ArcticWeb opens up for free use

As a part of ArcticWeb’s new set of user access levels, all internet users can now have free Guest user access to ArcticWeb. Guest users do not need to register. Simply press either of the two Access ArcticWeb buttons in order to start using the most comprehensive geo-portal for data related to the Norwegian continental shelf.

Users from non-commercial public organizations will still be eligible for a free Public user account. Public users as well as other registered users should remember to log in to ArcticWeb in order to get download capability as well as other premium features.

At present, ArcticWeb covers the Norwegian Continental Shelf; discussions regarding the inclusion of other areas are in progress. The geoportal provides access to data from many fields including biology, geology, meteorology and oceanography. ArcticWeb also provides energy industry information concerning exploration and production licences, petroleum activity, ship movement and emergency preparedness equipment. The contents of ArcticWeb are directly obtained from public databases and presented in a format specially designed for the energy industry.
