www.dirnat.no nature types online zipped shapefile monthly Nature types are areas important for the biological diversity in municipalities in Norway. The mapping has concentrated on 12 marine nature types and 57 nature types on land. The mapping also include key areas that are important for selected species and areas have a particular local importance.
www.dirnat.no protected areas online zipped shapefile monthly The protected areas are limited nature areas given protection by the authorities. The purpose is to take care of different nature types and landscapes for the benefit of mankind and to sustain the living conditions for plants and animal species, i.e. the biological diversity. There are several forms of protection; National parks, landscape protection and nature reserves. Different regulations apply to these protective forms. In Norway there are more than 2000 protected areas at the mainland and on Svalbard.

The data set was originally designed to find a biogeographic basis for selection of marine protected areas in Norway.

The purpose of NSF and NSR is to give the most important salmon stocks in Norway special protection against possible negative impacts from certain activities in the rivers, and from salmon farming in the surrounding fjords and costal areas. In 14 of the 29 NSF farming of anadromous fish is prohibited, and existing farms in these fjords has to relocate and move out before 01.03.2011

www.kystverket.no MOB online zipped shapefile monthly Combined shapefiles of MOB. SFT and DN has developed a method for prioritization of environmental resources in connection with oil spills, the so-called rescue method to be used in emergency context (Model for the prioritization of environmental resources by oil spills along the coast). This method is based on the environmental resources assigned to four different value criteria that together give the area a priority, and that they are assigned a vulnerability period. MOB A areas are the most important with decreasing importance to B, C, and D, respectively.
www.kystverket.no military areas online zipped shapefile monthly The data set shows the military ban areas that are associated with specific and closely defined restrictions. Please refer to the charts published by the Hydrographic Service for official information.
www.kystverket.no emergency ports online zipped shapefile monthly Combined shapefiles of emergency ports, both accepted and suggested. Places of refuge in Norway included in the NCA contingency plan. Refuge is considered the most appropriate place to take the vessel in order to avoid or minimize acute pollution and be a part of NCA preparedness against acute pollution. In each situation, however, any place is a possible refuge.

Places of refuge are separated into two categories.
Category 1: refuge particularly suitable for the largest vessels (tankers and large bulk carriers of the size that runs Narvik). Places of refuge in category 1 would primarily be required in connection with the outer fairway where tankers sail and fairways to the oil terminals and other ports where tankers and product tankers are going. These places can also be used by other traffic in the area.
Category 2: refuge for the expected traffic in the area. First of all vessels over 5000 GT.

www.statkart.no bathymetry data FTP shapefile never This dataset contains an overview of areas with marine geodata displayed in a grid.

Marine geodata or primary data consists of seamless bathymetry and coastline in a vector format. The data is continuously updated through input of new information from internal and external sources, and has been subjected to scale correction and generalisation only to a limited degree. In principal, this is our best, unclassified data and it has been subjected to extensive quality controls.

A data set will consist of shallows, soundings, depth contours and bathymetry areas, coastline and skerries, as well as land areas. The point density will vary depending on source and depth, and the minimum distance between soundings is 50 metres. The typical scales used are 1:10,000 – 1:30,000, but other scales can also be used. The quality of the data will vary depending on source and age.

At the moment, the NHS does not have full data coverage in the two of the northernmost counties (Nordland and Finnmark) as well as the County of Sogn og Fjordane. Production continues consecutively. Navigation critical areas are prioritised during hydrographical surveys, and some areas are therefore marked as not surveyed.

www.statkart.no hydrographic surveys FTP shapefile never This dataset shows availability of hydrographic survey data.

The hydrographic survey data, traditionally called fair sheets, contain the soundings from the hydrographic survey. Modern surveying is carried out using multi-beam echo sounders. Single-beam echo sounders and hand lead were used earlier, which means that the data density will vary depending on the data source and age. These data are used as basis for the NHS’ digital and analogue chart products and are very detailed. It is therefore defined as classified material by the Armed Forces. Access is depending on approval.

Most of the NHS hydrographical survey data is available in a digital format (sosi, shape or xyz files), but there are still some fair sheets available only in paper format.

Digital deliveries of modern hydrographical survey data often consist of soundings only. Depth contours can be generated if agreed, or the unclassified depth contours can be used. The analogue fair sheets and older single beam survey data will usually cover several topics: coastline, foreshore, navaids, bottom conditions, etc.

www.sintef.no shallow wells online HTML page never From 1982 to 1993, IKU (Continental Shelf Institute, now SINTEF Petroleum Research) mapped parts of the Norwegian continental shelf using a combination of shallow, high-resolution seismics and “shallow” (max. 580 m) stratigraphic drilling (diamond coring). Heat flow in the overburden was also determined at selected locations.

The seismic investigations, heat flow measurements and the collection, description and analysis of the cores and other rock samples were financed by a number of oil companies through various projects (map) during a period of 20 years.

Drill cores from more than 90 holes on the Norwegian Continental Shelf (map) and with a total length of 6600 m were collected. The rocks range in age from Late Ordovician to Late Tertiary.
